My LGYDF Experience - by Corie Bannon

The excitement I felt training with Caeser cannot be expressed in words.  He was very helpful and had a wonderful personality.  He made me feel as if I knew him forever.   The first thing he said to me was that everything he tells me might not be the best way or the only way, but this is what he has done and it helps him.  I found this very interesting.  During the clinic we worked on my position.  He told me to sit pretty like Courtney King!  We also worked on flying lead changes.  I had never done one before but by the end of the clinic we accomplished our goal and we got one clean change.  While I was riding I was surprised  to feel what I felt underneath me.  At one point I had to look down to see if I was riding the same horse!  May really lifted his back, I have never ridden him or felt him move like this, it felt as if we were floating in the air.  Caeser also told me it was okay to make mistakes as long as we worked on correcting them.  Once again thank you D4K, this was an opportunity and an experience I will cherish forever.

Another opportunity I received due to D4K was lessons with Britta Johnston.  We worked hard on my position and we worked very hard to get May to really lift his front end and sit down behind.  Britta taught me the great importance of positioning your body.  I always knew this was important, but I never thought that it made such a big difference.  That thought changed when I was cantering and trying to get May to collect.  Britta told me to tuck my tail bone in and lean a tiny bit forward.  The reason for this was so I would stop over arching my back.  As soon as I did as she said it was an instant change, and I felt the big difference.

D4K also allowed me the opportunity to receive more lessons from my trainers Alice Petersen and Marie Banks.  They always go above and beyond when teaching me.  They are like a family to me.  They want the best for me and help me to keep striving to reach higher levels at dressage.  I am now working at second level.  I cannot thank D4K enough for all the opportunities they have allowed me.  I will work hard and make myself and everyone involved proud of me.

Thank You from the bottom of me heart,

Corie Bannon
