Colleen Akin Wins USEF Dressage Seat Medal Finals

Colleen Akin, a long time competitor at the Youth Dressage Festival and participant at the Weekend Educational Program, won the USEF Dressage Seat Medal Finals in Illinois on August 30. Colleen was reserve champion last year on a borrowed horse in California. This year, on a horse loaned by Kim Barteau, she bested riders from all over the US. Reserve Champion was Erin Mullen from North Carolina who rode in one of the D4K Pony Clinics and competed in YDF last year.

Colleen’s mom Laura is our incredibly hard-working volunteer coordinator for YDF and speaker at the Weekend Educational Program. Her father Joe is one of the YDF scorers. Her brother Patrick also helps at the show. Erin’s mom Suzanne has helped with some D4K publicity.

Congratulations to Colleen and Erin! Both have worked very hard to become successful in the equitation program.
